Fantastic Flowers You Have Yet to Discover In-Person

Great Flowers for Floyd

Want to grow more beautiful flowers this year? Join us for a lecture and plant swap on Saturday, May 28, to discuss and share great flowers for Floyd. Local garden writer Barbara Pleasant will talk about “Fantastic Flowers You Have Yet to Discover” and offer starter plants of a few of her favorites. Please bring plants or seeds to share of flowers every Floyd gardener should grow at least once.

 

Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Barbara Pleasant has been writing about organic gardening for more than 30 years. After starting out with Organic Gardening magazine, she eventually moved on to Mother Earth News, American Gardener and GrowVeg.com. Her books and articles have won many awards, and her newest book, Homegrown Pantry, was a finalist for a 2018 INDIE Forward award. Pleasant lives in Floyd, Virginia, where she grows vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruits along with a few chickens, who all have names. Her website is barbarapleasant.com.

Barbara Pleasant is the author of many gardening books, a Master Gardener, and a contributing editor to Mother Earth News and Mother Earth Living. Her newest book, Homegrown Pantry, won a Silver Award of Achievement from the Garden Writers Association as well as a Silver Award in the INDIES Book of the Year competition.
